Leon Bridges leads THR’s Top TV Songs chart, compiled in conjunction with Tunefind and Shazam, for February, with his 2015 song “River,” thanks to the song's appearance in HBO’s Big Little Lies.
Rankings for the Top TV Songs chart are based on song and show data provided by Tunefind and ranked using a formula blending respective Shazam tags, as well as sales and streaming information tracked by Nielsen Music during the corresponding period. “River” was featured in the second episode of Big Little Lies’ on Feb. 26 and leads all songs with 65,000 Shazam tags, 15,000 downloads sold and 1.4 million U.S. streams in February, according to Nielsen Music.
The song was featured on Bridges’ first studio album Coming Home, which reached No. 6 on the Billboard 200 in 2015 (chart dated July 11). The album returned to the list following the Big Little Lies exposure, re-entering the tally at No. 98 on the March 18-dated chart, after nearly a year off the list (it was last on the chart way back on April 2, 2016).
Though the song had never previously appeared on a Billboard chart, the show’s exposure helped the song debut on the Hot R&B Songs chart dated March 18 at No. 17. The song currently stands at No. 24 on the chart (dated March 25).
